Own A Website Or Blog? | 6 Ways To Start Earning From Them!

by Akos Fintor on January 22, 2010

If you own a website or customizable blog ( such as WordPress where you have access to HTML coding) and not making any money you are missing out.

Here are 6 ways to make money:

1. Donations

What you basically do here is “soliciting” for money (value) from your readers.(I know it sounds lame but hear me out first.)

When you provide extremely valuable information to your audience chances are that some of them will want to give back something to show appreciation.

Many sites (like Amazon.com) have “Wish Lists”.All you have to do is set up a little box on your site containing all the products that are on your “wish list”. This encourages people to buy you a present. Don’t be afraid to put up high dollar stuff because even a CEO of a million dollar company could pull up to your site. Don’t underestimate the value that you put out on your site ; information that you provide could worth thousands of dollars to some.

You don’t force them to contribute, you simply give them the option to show appreciation.

2. Subscription

You can create special section of your site called “Paid Members Area” where you provide more valuable information in your niche. You let them peek into what exactly you are doing. If they see you as a leader they will want to be the part of your daily business related activities.

You may set up a forum which provide another value for them as paid members. In this forum they ask you questions for instance (a mini consultation one on one).

You may put up regular video posts for the “club members” providing more insight on your niche.

You can also start building your email list buy putting up a email subscription box using auto-responder services provided by Aweber and such.

3.  Contextual

adsenseContextual revenue comes from ad providers such as Google, Yahoo …etc. These ads look like this and they blend in with the content visually and they are relevant to it.

If you are article or blog post about making money on the net for instance; Google will analyze your content and selects targeted, relevant ads to that content.

What you need to do is sign up with Google AdSense and in 24 hours the ads will be up and running if your site is accepted by Google.

This is the fastest and easiest way to make money however there some down side to it. See the good and  bad:

Pros:

-Easy to implement

-Google does everything for you for a small fee (They take a small percentage from your earnings)

-You can see instant results

Cons:

-You have no editorial control over what Google want to put on your site. You will be showing your competitors’ ads. So if your visitors click on the ads even though you get paid they will be redirected to other relevant websites where they could be turned into paying customers by your competitors.

The bigger you get the less you will rely on Google Adsense.

4. Direct Ad Sales

It is a lucrative way of making money but also very hard unless you have an enormous amount of traffic and readership on your site.

Here you rent out spot for advertisers on your site. (it can be a banner, text…etc). Big companies do this for brand exposure and sale as well. Obviously the more your site grows the more and bigger names going to be interested to advertise with you.

5. Affiliate Marketing

When you promote other people’s service or product that’s called affiliate marketing. Whenever somebody buys a product through your affiliate link you get a percentage of that sale. Clickbank is website that gives home to thousands of affiliate products.

6. Selling A Product

Which can be your own E-book or any product related to your niche.

So these are the 6 ways you can make money from your site.I hope you will implement the information and see results soon.
