Intralinking From Post To Pages | On-Page SEO

Wordpress pages are represented by tabs (links to different pages of the site) on the top or on the side of each blog (to the right on my blog). These tabs will show up at every single post, every URL associated with AkosFintor.com.

internal-linkingPosts, however are not static which means that as you put out new blog posts the older posts will sink to the bottom of the page. What you want people to see are the pages most importantly. Once again, you are trying to signal to the Google search engine: Look at these pages! This is my website about! You want your blog post link to a blog page (category). Linking from post to post is ok but you are really after linking from post to page if you are aiming for higher rankings.

When you have blog and you are promoting an affiliate product do not use link the points to you affiliate page. This is not what you are suppose to do if you are hopping to get rankings for a given product. Instead create a page (category) on your blog for that particular product.

So anytime you are talking about that product you point your visitors to that page on your blog. And this is the page that actually is going to link out to your affiliate page. Drive traffic to the right direction! The more traffic points to your pages (not a blog post) the more Google will rank it higher because it thinks these pages a very important.See?

If visitors share your blog posts on social sites (Twitter, Facebook, Digg …etc (Gosh, I love these plugins! )) that’s great too because they are passing this SEO juice all over the net. :)

What You Gotta Do:

- Install “All In One SEO Pack”

- Add distinct title and meta tags for every post and pages

- Have at least 4-5 pages (relevant to your niche)

- Link your posts to relevant pages choosing proper anchor texts (should contain keywords)

Beyond Inbound Linking | Implement Intralinking As Your SEO Strategy

internal-linking-seoIntralinking is when you use a link on your website to point to another page or blog post on the same site. Think of these links if they were road signs in a city, where the city represents your website. By placing these intranlinks at the perfect place you make it very easy for your visitors to find they way around. You are actually helping them to built a mental map (layout) of your site in their mind.

Intralink Tells (Navigates) Them:

-Where to go

-What to expect

It is easy to loose interest in a site if it is not organized. It is kind of annoying when you don’t find what you searching for even though the information is right there (somewhere).

You can actually think of Google Search Engine as a visitor on your website. The more you make it clear (by using all the tips mentioned in my previous posts on SEO) what your website is about ( your niche) the higher ranking it will give you. The more relevant your site is the better.

While most understand the benefits of inbound linking (linking from other websites to your website), many forget about intralinking (links within your website). Do not underestimate the importance of this tip!

When implementing intralinking avoid anchor text (”clickable” text) such as “click here” or “here” but instead try to give a little description of what the visitor can expect after clicking the anchor text. That gives a little more information to the search engines what your site is all about. Remember, the clearer the content of your site is in the “eyes” of the engines the higher you will rank.

The main benefit is that you have complete control over the link structure of your site since you are the one who creates them. You choose where you insert your anchor texts and what they say.

Links Point:

-from a post to another post

-from a page to another page

-etc.

By intralinking you tell the search engines which pages on your site are the most important or relevant. You constantly referencing those pages through links in future pages or posts. You are signaling, reminding Google saying :” Hey, this is important! Give authority to it over everything else! This is what my site is about!”

My Intralink Rules

-Do not spam links (putting them all over the place of your blog-It looks unprofessional and needy).

-Place one link for every 200-300 words or more.

-Usually 2-3 links per post.

-Skip having a link in your post now and then.

Remember, reading my posts are not enough. You’ve gotta do the work by implementing what you’ve learned!

Meta Description-Grab The Attention! -SEO Tips

In my earlier post I referred to the  “All in one SEO pack” as a smokin’ hot,  plugin.  It’s a must if you want to crank up the traffic of your wordpress blog.

Installing this handy tool is only a portion of the game.  It is also crucial to fill it up with really cool, relevant, keywords.

Meta Description

meta-description-If you are an internet marketer (that is you are here to sell something) your description should be about the problem that your audience is having.  Because they are usually searching for a solution to their problem.  Your job is to give them that solution.  You need to talk about their problem and how your product, article, or whatever you have to offer, is going to solve it for them.

Put in some extra effort to make your description sound exciting.  This is going to separate you from the crowd, because most people don’t posses unique titles or tags.  So, when your target reads your title and your description those things should resonate with them.  Their reaction should be something like this : OMG!  This guy is talking about me!!!!  That’s what I’m searching for!!!

For instance :  If you’re promoting a dog obedience product, your description should be something like this: “Is your barking dog keeping you awake at night?  Simple instructions to show you how to get rid of the annoying noise in 5 days.”

Description Guidelines

-Include keywords (don’t be spammy!)

-It has to be readable.  One of the key factors whether your searcher will click on your link.

-You have 160 characters to do all that. :(

Let me know what you think!

SEO-Search Engine Optimization For Dummies Part IV

In my previous blog posts on SEO I gave you cool tips on optimizing your website using keywords and organizing your content.

The third and final part of this SEO training is “linking”.

Linkingbacklinks

A link is a highlighted text on a website such as: My Twitter. When you put your mouse over it, it will change colors, and by clicking it you will be taken to another site.

You are going to need these links from other websites to link to your own website.  The more links pointing to your site, the more relevant it’s going to be in eyes of the search engines.  However, these links are weighed differently.  It matters whether your link is from social media, another website, or an article directory…etc.

Also, it is very important to point the link to a relevant page of your website.  Let’s say you have a site about fitness and you submitted an article about diet to a directory.  In this case your link in that article should point to one of the diet pages of your site, and not to a page about six packs.

A specific example:  Your “diet” articles last sentence is:  Some of my favorite vegan recipes.

The sentence “some of my favorite vegan recipes” is highlighted  (this highlighted text is also known as “anchor text”) and takes the reader to the “vegan recipes” page of your website.  The link to that exact page is something like this: http://www.Jane’sFitness.com/diet/recepies/vegan.

As you can see both the anchor text and your link include your keywords.

Getting Those Quality Links

Your first option is finding related websites or blogs.  First, establish a relationship with the site owner.  Then you can either exchange links, or write articles for each others sites containing your link, pointing to your website.  Once again, your link has to come from another site that is related to your site somehow.articles

Option number 2 is to submit articles to “article directories”. You write an article placing 2-3 links in the content all pointing to the appropriate page of your website.  Then you may submit it to multiple directories.

You can also get those links through social sites such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube…etc.  When you publish content, include your link which points to your website.

If you are using a Wordpress blog install these widgets:  Sociable, Digg, ShareThis, and Tweetme.  These tools encourage your readers who like your content to share it with others.  You will get links back to your site and traffic from these websites as well.

SEO-Search Engine Optimization For Dummies Part III

In the last blog post in the SEO category I gave you a quick rundown on how to search for targeted keywords in your niche.

Second Part-Website Content

You need to use those targeted keywords in your website’s Title Tag and Meta Description.

Title Tag

Each page on your website or blog has its own title tag which you are going to name using some of your keywords.

Meta Description

Meta Description is a description of that particular page. You also want your keywords in here as well.title-description-tag

Use your keywords naturally and use a variety of them.Do not spam them in your content. That’s very unprofessional and it drives away readers.

Important!

If you have a Wordpress blog there is a plugin called “All In One SEO Pack”.With this plugin optimizing each of your post literally takes 2 minutes and it is FREE!

This is how it looks like:-all-in-one-seo-packThis tool may seem very simple but it will impact your pages in the eyes of Google.

On-Page Organization

Organize your content on your website so it makes sense to your visitors and to Google.Search engines are programs that visit your website trying to figure out what your site is about.

You need to make nice, relevant organized categories just like the way you would organize a book according its chapters.

Let’s say your blog is about fitness and weight loss.Your categories should be about: Diet,Exercises,Products…etc.

So, once again you organize to make it easy for visitors and search engines to have an instant understanding of your site. The more Google understands your site the higher ranking it will give you.The topic of your website should be a clear reflection of your targeted market you’re after. And then not only will your website rank high but also pages (blog posts) within your site as well.

SEO-Search Engine Optimization For Dummies Part II

Realizing the benefits of SEO will make you want to start optimizing your website or blog ASAP.  You don’t want to miss out on free traffic, do you?!seo 1

The First Step

You need to find the best keywords within your niche.  (Your niche is the field in which you represent yourself as an expert to your audience. ) These keywords will enable you to dominate your targeted market.

Let’s say you are striving to represent yourself as  a “guru” in any dog related topic, and want to find the most targeted keywords.

Make A List of:

- New company names related to dog products

-New dog related books, products, courses…etc.

-Biggest names (gurus) in the field (Ceasar Millan for instance)

-Any news or gossip (launch of a new product)

The point here is that you need to think about your market’s head.  What might they be looking for?  What’s hot out there “today”?

If somebody is searching for a dog health product, they are probably looking for a solution to a problem. If they find the solution, they are more likely to make a purchase.  If you rank in the top 10 on Google search engine  for that given keyword, chances are that your website will provide the information, the person is looking for.  Ranking high also shows a lot of credibility in the eyes of your prospects; they basically sell themselves.

SEO 2Let’s say there is a rumor about a launch of a new dog product on the net. You create an optimized (using SEO) website or a blog about that product.  It’s a new product so chances are that there is not much optimization  on it (no competition). You being the first,  would capitalize on that buzz.   And when the rumor becomes the latest news and goes viral you will get insane traffic.

Where To Find Keywords?

Go to Amazon.com and make a search on dog or dogs.  You will find a ton of popular books.  Make notes of the books titles and the authors.  Those are your “keywords” that you will be sprinkling all over your content, to optimize your page.

Writing Your Content-Tips

-Do not write anything negative or bash anybody.  Don’t put negative energy out there.  Karma will come back and bite you in the a$$.

-Be helpful, add value, and be objective when writing a review.  You are giving your honest opinion on a subject.  You are acting as  a “commentator” who reports on rumors and news.

SEO-Search Engine Optimization For Dummies

If you are new to internet marketing you’ve probably come across the term “SEO” or Search Engine Optimization, without having any idea what it is.

What is  SEO?

SEO is a traffic strategy that will help your website achieve a higher ranking in search engines (Google,Yahoo,Bing…etc.) for keywords that  people are searching for.

Why do  SEO?

-The number one benefit of all, is the tremendous amount of targeted FREE traffic.
-This traffic is ongoing. Which means once you get your site ranked as one of the top 3 search results you will have traffic on autopilot.
-Leads and customers are coming in on autopilot. (A customer is someone who buys any product listed on your website.  A lead is a person who is interested in joining your business opportunity or a subscriber to your newsletter…etc.  (A lead gives away their contact information to you to keep them updated and informed.)
-Risk Free. Doesn’t cost you anything other than time.

Natural (organic) Search Results vs Paid Advertising (Google Adwords)

By implementing SEO your goal is to rank your website high in the natural (organic) search results. (Results in the blue bracket.)

Paid advertising (results in red bracket) also known as “PayPer Click” (aka Google Adwords if you advertise using Google) cost money.  They have nothing to do with what we are trying to do here with our SEO strategy.
SEO pic 3
Generally speaking people tend to trust the organic search results on the left side rather then the sponsored links on the right.

The picture on the left shows results from an eyetracking study on Google search results from Enquiro. The authors tested 50 people each performing 5 different search tasks. Areas colored red are where people focused most of their attention. The colors change to indicate decreasing areas of visual focus of the participants.

Comparing PPC (Pay Per Click) and SEO Strategies:

While PPC costs money (anywhere from $0.05 to $10.00) and your competitors can knock you off by paying more, with SEO you only spending your time. (As far as PPC goes, until you know what you are doing, I advise you to stay away from it.  Advertising with Google Adwords  is an art.) Once your site has established high rankings in the engines, it’s going to be difficult for your competition to take over your position.  They have to learn the same SEO principles and implement it more effectively then you did.  Besides, you will be getting much more traffic than through PPC.
